Revolutionizing Operations: HMWS&SB's One-Year Outsourcing Plan for Enhanced Efficiency in Water Billing and Collection

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) is contemplating the outsourcing of spot-billing and collection services for a one-year period to enhance operational efficiency. The intended outsourcing initiative seeks to optimize the processes involved in meter reading, bill generation, and the collection of consumer payments.

On a monthly basis, designated agencies will manage invoicing for larger diameter connections and commercial category Consumer Account Numbers (CANs) of specified sizes in close collaboration with the management. These agencies are required to complete billing for various categories and pipe diameters by the 15th of each month, followed by a focused effort on payment collection for all CANs from the 16th until the end of the month.

The outsourced meter readers will play a crucial role in identifying and reporting irregularities in pipe sizes, in addition to promptly notifying the HMWS&SB about necessary meter repairs. The agencies involved will not only aid in identifying and rectifying unmetered meter status Consumer Account Numbers (CANs) but will also ensure swift communication with designated meter repair agencies.

This strategic transition is anticipated to yield more streamlined billing procedures, increased accuracy in meter readings, and an overall enhancement of the HMWS&SB's operational efficiency.
