One India, Great India: PM Modi on Supreme Court's Verdict

In the wake of the Supreme Court's decision to uphold the central government's move to revoke special status from Jammu and Kashmir and divide it into union territories by nullifying Article 370 of the Constitution, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his belief that the court's ruling has served to strengthen the unity and integrity of India.

In an article published in The Hindu, PM Modi emphasized the significance of the Supreme Court's verdict, stating that it has reinforced the spirit of One India, Great India by emphasizing the importance of unity and a collective commitment to good governance.

The Prime Minister further highlighted that the court's judgment has upheld the sovereignty and integrity of India, a principle that is deeply cherished by every Indian. He also noted that the court recognized the government's decision on August 5, 2019, as a step towards enhancing constitutional integration rather than promoting disintegration.

PM Modi expressed his concerns about the lack of a clear and unified stance on fundamental issues within the country, which has led to confusion and division. He lamented that Jammu and Kashmir had suffered as a result of this mindset, and suggested that at the time of Independence, there was an opportunity to pursue a fresh start for national integration. Instead, the country continued with a confused approach, disregarding long-term national interests.

The Prime Minister also reiterated his belief that the events in Jammu and Kashmir constituted a betrayal to both the nation and its people. He asserted that the region had been victimized by a lack of clarity and a failure to prioritize national interests.

PM Modi also highlighted the positive changes that have taken place in Jammu and Kashmir since 2019, emphasizing that the atmosphere in the region has been transformed for the better. He noted that the people's aspirations are no longer constrained by past grievances, but are now focused on future possibilities. The Prime Minister emphasized that development, democracy, and dignity have replaced disillusionment, disappointment, and despondency in the region.

In summary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's article in The Hindu reflects his strong support for the Supreme Court's decision to uphold the government's actions in Jammu and Kashmir. He believes that this ruling has reinforced the unity and integrity of India, while also paving the way for positive changes in the region.
